Piloting Apprise with the Thai Government

We are currently partnering with the Thai Government to evaluate the use of Apprise, our mobile technology for identifying potential victims of human trafficking and forced labour, at the Royal Navy Port In / Port Out (PIPO) centres.

Our Local Coordinator in Thailand, Dear Puthawong, is currently providing training at the designated PIPO centres for the duration of the pilot.

This pilot is the result of an ongoing engagement between the Thai Government, the United Nations University Institute on Computing and Society (UNU-CS) since April 2017. The project aims at improving victim-identification practices to identify potential victims among vulnerable populations, such as migrant workers in the fishing and seafood processing industry.

Apprise was developed by the United Nations University Institute in Macau in collaboration with The Mekong Club.
